5 games to watch in Week 1

By: Jake Rajala

Week 1 is a few months away! There are bound to be some impressive showdowns in Week 1. With that said, I’m going to lay out five games to watch in Week 1.

Patriots at Seahawks

This isn’t a debate. The best game in Week 1 is a rematch of the prior Super Bowl. The Seahawks no longer have Klint Kubiak or Kenneth Walker. Kubiak is a Raider, while K9 is a Chief. The Pats don’t have Stefon Diggs, but they did add AJ Brown, who is better than Diggs. The Seahawks had the number one scoring defense last season. They lost Cobe Bryant, but it was a necessary loss. They did add Dante Fowler Jr. Meanwhile, the Pats added Kevin Byard to help their pass defense. All he did was have seven interceptions.

49ers at Rams

It’s a heavyweight fight between the 49ers and Rams in Week 1. The ultimate battle between the two teams is Trent Williams and Myles Garrett. The 49ers will lean on running behind Williams. The Rams have Puka Nacua and Tae. They will test a modest 49ers pass defense. CMAC is healthy and he will be fresh, so the Rams need to get creative to stop him.

Saints at Lions

Tyler Shough is the most underrated QB under 30 and Jared Goff is the most underrated QB over 30. Shough and Goff will pick apart each other’s defense. Shough has Chris Olave and Jordyn Tyson at his disposal. Goff has Amon St. Brown and Jameson Williams on his side. They each have an elite pass rusher, too. The Lions have Aidan Hutchinson, while the Saints have Chase Young.

Bills at Texans

This is an under the radar contest. The Texans had the best defense last season. They were led by Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter. On the other hand, the Bills have the 2024 MVP Josh Allen. The Texans need CJ Stroud to be a game manager. They don’t need him to play lights out with their level of defense. Believe it or not, the Texans beat the Bills in their last match-up.

Broncos at Chiefs

The wiz Sean Payton dukes it out with the other genius Andy Reid. The Broncos nearly reached the Super Bowl. If Bo Nix didn’t get injured, the Broncos may have went to Disney World. Patrick Mahomes didn’t stand out and his squad missed the playoffs last season. This will be a thriller on Monday Night Football.
