Will the 49ers reunite with Deebo Samuel?
By: Jake Rajala
The former Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49er Deebo Samuel is one of the most versatile pieces on offense right now. Samuel is like a more explosive version of Taysom Hill. Samuel hasn’t played like an All-Pro recently, but he can still be a threat. He had 802 total yards in 2024 and 806 total yards last season. I still believe the version of him, where he unleashed 1,117 total yards, is somewhere in him.
This raises a vital question: Should the 49ers reunite with Deebo?
I’d love to see Deebo join the team in the Bay Area. Kyle Shanahan can unlock Deebo and put him in places to succeed. With Mike Evans playing out-wide, defenses will focus on double teaming Evans, and this will open up things for other 49ers WRs. Jet sweeps and screens are the perfect plays for Samuel.
Let it be known that Brandon Aiyuk will most likely not be in a 49ers uniform next season. Hence, they need someone to replace him. Hopefully, their new WR doesn’t speed by the building.
Evans and Samuel can ride off into the sunset together. Samuel is 30 years old and then Evans is 32 years old. Obviousy, George Kittle is also 32. This reminds me of the Pittsburgh Penguins trio (Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang) who are all very talented, but quite old.
If the 49ers don’t sign Samuel, I’d love to see them sign Keenan Allen or Tyreek Hill. I’m concerned about the durability of those two WRs, however. The 49ers already experience injuries on offense, especially to CMAC and Kittle.
The 49ers play against the LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks. Both of those teams were in the NFC Championship last season. So, it’s safe to say the 49ers need to stay aggressive and acquire more talent if they want to beat LA and SEA.
