McKee is listed as a potential trade target
By: Jake Rajala
There has been a lot of drama over the Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback spot over the decade. We’ve witnessed Jeff Garcia and Nick Foles stand out.
In these modern times, we have someone by the name of Tanner McKee. He stepped in 2024 and led his team to victory. He threw four touchdowns in the game! Yes, you read that correctly. His magic somewhat wore off last season, as he went 0-1 and threw 1 TD to 1 int. With that said, he is 26 years old (which is the same age as Tyler Shough).
Given that he has a lot of potential, but he sits behind Jalen Hurts, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he gets traded. So, I’m going to unleash a few potential trade destinations for him.
New York Jets
I believe the Jets have the worst QB situation in the league. Geno Smith led the league in interceptions (17) last season. Don’t worry, he also threw 15 ints in 2024! Cade Klubnik was their fourth round pick in 2026. Cade only threw 16 touchdowns in 12 games last season. If he went to the draft after his 36 touchdown season (as a junior), he may have been an earlier pick.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers don’t quite have someone sitting and ready to replace Aaron Rodgers for when he retires. I don’t feel that Mason Rudolph is that guy. It’s hard for a rookie, even if they are a first round pick, to shine right away. Jaxson Dart and Cam Ward didn’t have a winning record. If the Steelers want to a rookie to start in 2027, they need to be prepared for some growing pains and lots of losses.
Seattle Seahawks
I believe McKee would be a sure-fire upgrade over Drew Lock. The Hawks have to be more prepared than any other team in the league. McKee can excel with throwing out-side of the pocket. Jaxson Smith-Nijgba and Cooper Kupp can shine in the quick passing game, too. This would help any young QB.
Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson has played one full season since his rookie year. If he gets injured, they can’t afford to not be prepared for even one game. We witnessed the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Ravens to advance to the playoffs. McKee is an upgrade over Tyler Huntley, who has failed to take the next step in his seven year career.
