Best spots for Vita Vea
By: Jake Rajala
It’s been widely reported that the behemoth Vita Vea on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wants to switch teams. He isn’t seeing eye to eye on their contract proposals. With that said, I’m going to lay out the best landing spots for Vea.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions ranked 22nd in PPG allowed and 17th in YPG allowed. Their defense could improve a lot, especially when they have a Top-5 offense. “Hutch” is a game wrecker at the DE spot. I’d love to see them bring in a menace on the IDL location. They need a DT that was as potent as former Lions Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairly.
Las Vegas Raiders
Tom Brady loves to make splash moves in the offseason. The Raiders should absolutely acquire Vita Vea. Maxx Crosby is arguably the top “run stopper” at the DE spot. However, they need more beef up front. They ranked 18th in rushing YPG allowed. Furthermore, they play in one of the best divisions in football, so they could use more talent.
New York Jets
The Jets moved on from Quinnen Williams, so here’s their chance to heal that wound. T’Vondre Sweat and Harrison Phillips combined for 2.5 sacks last season. Vea had 4.5 sacks last season. Sweat had 34 tackles and Phillips had 60 tackles last season.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams stay aggressive 365 days a year. Myles Garrett and Vea would be the best DE-DT tandem in NFL history. The Rams won a Super Bowl by bringing in talent like Von Miller and Odell Beckham Jr. They have to bring in more gifted assers than Garrett.
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs don’t have a lot of talent on their DL outside of Chris Jones. Their DT that’s slotted to start next to Jones is Khyris Tonga. He had nine tackles last season. In other words, they need to find a quality starting DT. The Chiefs also need their defense to get back on track and bully opposing offenses.
Honorable Mention:
Green Bay Packers
Vea can be the new Kenny Clark (who is a Cowboy). Except Via is more well-rounded than Clark! Teams will run away from Micah Parsons. They run into the lap of the Top-5 DT Vita Vea. Vea can also push the pocket back and help Parsons jump in and clean it up.
