Best trade destinations for the Patriots CB

Devon Witherspoon was recently made the highest paid cornerback in NFL history. Well, the New England Patriots are trying to make Christian Gonzalez paid higher. That hasn’t worked thus far. It’s puzzling why he wouldn’t want to get paid and compete for one of the best franchises in all of sports. With that said, there’s legit reason to believe he could get traded. Hence, I’m going to unfold the best trade destinations for the Patriots $15M CB.
New York Giants
The GMEN have a very talented front seven with Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, Kavyon Thibodeaux, and Arvell Reese. They need their secondary to match the talent upfront. Paulson Adebo is a modest CB that was brought over from New Orleans last season. Gonzalez can play the other side and get up in the face of opposing wideouts.
New Orleans Saints
Speak of the Devil. The Saints could really benefit from another CB. They have Kool-Aid McKinstry, but they have lost Marshon Lattimore, Paulson Adebo, and Alontae Taylor over the past couple of season. The Saints can count on Chase Young, Cameron Jordan, and Carl Granderson to hold up their end.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys signed Von Miller yesterday. Why stop there? Their defense was the worst defense in the league last season. The Boy moved on from Trevon Diggs and could use a veteran CB. The offenses in the NFC East are improving, too. Jaxson Dart and Jayden Daniels will be coming back healthy.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers witnessed the Los Angeles Rams bring in Myles Garrett. They are wondering why LA gets to have all the fun. the 49ers are one of the best teams in the league. They have Nick Bosa and Fred Werner. It’s time for the 49ers to reel in a prominent figure in their secondary.
Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions were one of the worst pass defenses last season. I don’t believe they did enough to fix it. Their starting CB on one side is Keith Abney and he’s a fifth round pick. DJ Reed is the other CB, who was ranked by PFF as the 47th best CB. If the Lions want to get back to being a juggernaut team, they need to make some bold moves.
Gonzalez is arguably a Top-5 CB right now. Many teams are licking their chops at the idea of getting him. Obviously, there is still a lot of reason to believe he stays in New England. Time will tell which side he is on as the season approaches.
