Reflecting on the Titans-Seahawks game

The Tennessee Titans took on the Seattle Seahawks at home yesterday. It was gutsy and there were lots of fireworks. The Titans came out with the victory by a score of 19-16. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we learned from the showdown.
Titans QBs
The Titans QBs had an up and down performance. Mitchell Trubisky went 7 for 9 and had a completion percentage of 78%! He proved that he has learned a lot about being a backup. Trubisky is still 32 years old, so he could be a starter for a team for five more seasons! I wasn’t thrilled about Cam Ward’s performance. He didn’t do a splendid job of reading the defense. He did have an 81.6 passer rating, but he still lacked big plays and wasn’t able to reach the end zone.
Drew Lock
Drew Lock was the hero of the day. He looked like the former QB that went 4-1 for the Denver Broncos. He went 12 for 14, 103 passing yards, and a touchdown. It’s vital that the reigning Super Bowl Champions have a proper backup QB if Sam Darnold gets hurt. It’s safe to say Lock is the guy.
Long distance field goals
Each kicker in the contest was motivated to kick the longest field goal. Jason Myers notched a 48 yard FG, but missed another FG. Joey Slye unleashed a 55 yard FG! They don’t have All-Pro kickers, but they do have kickers that can make long field goals in big games.
Interceptions
There wasn’t a lot of interceptions in this contst. The Titans had two interceptions, but the Seahawks didn’t have any ints. The Seahawks had arguably the best NFL defense last season. I find it a tad concerning that we are near Week 1 and the Hawks haven’t dominated in their secondary, even if it backups playing. Their pass defense doesn’t have to be the “Legion of Boom”, but it should still be effective.
Seahawks running game
The Seahawks top RB duo was sharp in the contest. Julius Chestnut recorded 8 carries for 48 yards. Michael Carter had 7 carries for 28 yards. It’s safe to say that Titans legendary RB Chris Johnson should be proud from the top RBs for the Titans right now. The Titans need a potent run game to help their second year QB Cam Ward.
