Potential replacements for Kayshon Boutte

Replacements for Kayshon Boutte

By: Jake Rajala

The New England Patriots officially traded wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans this morning. It wasn’t a complete surprise, as the Pats have been rumored to trade him this offseason. The Pats reeled in AJ Brown via a trade and then signed Romeo Doubs in free agency earlier this off-season.

With that enunciated, I still expect the Pats to target a WR to replace Kayshon. So, he are some potential options.

Tyreek Hill

The best free agent WR available is none other than Tyreek Hill. We’ve seen the legendary WR Keenan Allen recently go off the board. It’s time for the Pats to bring in Hill. Hill can shine in the quick passing game via screens and slants. We all know Josh McDaniels can thrive in the short passing attack.

Luther Burden

I’d love to see an explosive offense get their hands on Luther Burden. No offense to Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. I just simply believe that Josh McDaniels and Drake Maye are a step above the Bears HC-QB combo. Burden recorded 652 yards and 47 catches last season.

Jerry Jeudy

The Browns appear to be headed into a young direction at the WR spot. They have KC Concepcion (2026 first round pick) and Denzel Boston (2026 second round pick). Even Isaiah Bond is a young figure at WR. The Browns could likely get a mid-round pick or a project QB in return for Jeudy.

Brian Thomas Jr.

Brian Thomas Jr took a step back last season, but don’t let that define him. After all, he missed a few games. In his rookie season, he registered 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns! The Jags could move on from Thomas Jr. and have Travis Hunter take more reps at the WR spot. The Jags could even get an early pick for Thomas Jr.

Terry McLaurin

Scary Terry can’t be too happy with his situation. He is 30 years old and he’s playing on a team that went down-hill last season. It’s time for him to join a Super Bowl-competing squad and use up his remaining juice. Brown and McLaurin would be the best WR duo in the NFL.

Honorable Mention:

OBJ

We’ve seen some elusiveness and impressive catching ability from Odell Beckham Jr. this off-season. However, OBJ is 33 years old, so the GMEN may want to go in a different direction. Hence, they could trade him or release him. The Giants have Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Calvin Austin, and Darnell Mooney above him on the depth chart.
