5 replacements for Jayden Reed

True replacements for Jayden Reed

By: Jake Rajala

It’s sadly official: Jayden Reed will undergo neck surgery and miss the rest of the season. It’s a big blow to a team that has already suffered this season. Jordan Love is struggling, and their wide receiver group isn’t making many plays. With that said, I’m going to lay out replacements for Jayden Reed.

Courtland Sutton

Courtland Sutton has been MIA this season. He only has eight receptions thus far. Leave it to Jaylen Waddle to feast against opponents. Marvin Mims Jr. is also returning soon, so that doesn’t help Sutton’s case. Sutton has a similar skill-set to Reed. They are big body wideouts that can win in a jump-ball situation.

George Pickens

George Pickens is a stud, but he’s not perfect. He only has 150 yards and averaged 9.4 YPC. Ceedee Lamb is a WR that can dominate without help. He reminds me of Chris Olave, who is a Top-5 WR that can be an All-Pro and shine with foes double teaming him.

Travis Hunter

I”m tired of Travis Hunter moving around the field. I want to see him stick to wideout and play like a Pro Bowler at the position. Hunter only has one catch for eight yards. This shouldn’t mean he can’t flex his muscles at the WR position. He does have an interception at CB, but I’d rather see him help T-Lawrence at WR.

Terry McLaurin

Scary Terry is in a scary situation. He’s playing in an offense that isn’t WR friendly. Furthermore, his starting QB (Jayden Daniels) could miss some games. McLaurin only had two grabs in each of his first two games. He finally shined with several catches, 77 yards, and a touchdown. Scary Terry can shine all across the field. It doesn’t have to be only from the slot of out-wide.

Jameson Williams

Jameson Williams was a drop machine to start the season. Then he started to clean up his act a little. He has 127 yards and 10 grabs on the season. The Lions have Amon Ra. St Brown at WR and Teslaa is starting to shine. The biggest reason that the Lions may not trade Williams to the Packers is that they play in the same division.

Honorable Mention:

DK Metcalf

DK Metcalf went from an elite WR to a poor man’s version of Calvin Johnson. Metcalf hasn’t looked like a superb WR1. He only has 3,3,4 catches on the season thus far. At least, Metcalf is 28 years old, so he should have a few seasons left. I do like that A-Rod is spreading the ball around, as tight end Darnell Washington is getting involved.
